The Journey

The concept for the Valley Dream Center was created by the combined efforts of community-conscious business owners, pastors, teachers, public servants, and other non-profits. Our leaders care deeply for the Central Valley and want to work together to minimize the impact of generational poverty in our cities. Together, we have made a comprehensive strategy to reduce this ongoing cycle.

Our founder, Rene M. Charest, owned and operated a multi-million dollar construction business for thirty years. In 2010, he became the executive pastor of a large, inner-city church. His mission was to bring help and healing to their neighbors.

His team believes that through collaboration of already existing resources from non-profits, church facilities, volunteers, and local businesses, we could see our broken neighborhoods stabilize and improve.

Since the Valley Dream Center opened it’s doors in 2014, we’ve helped thousands of people in need. A Neighborhood Market was established to provide groceries for our community, the upstairs of the Hope House was remodeled for several uses, a playground designed by a community member was built for local kids, and so much more.
