When many of us were young, our parents would send us outside to play until dinner time. It was our opportunity to enjoy the outside world, away from the long arduous days in school. It was also time for our parents to be alone, and enjoy adult conversation without the distraction of their energy-laden children underfoot.
Today, however, in many of our communities, playing ‘outside’ is not an option. The fear of gangs, drugs, and all sorts of violence prevents children from escaping the doldrums of indoor life and strips parents from much needed time alone.
Valley Dream Center is dedicated to changing that reality. We are reaching into our community, loving our neighbor, and offering real services for those in need. Why? So people can be restored and neighborhoods can become safe again.
Our three ministry objectives: Rescue, Restore, and Release, identify each problem facing broken neighborhoods and its residence and offers restorative solutions. One exciting idea is, “Adopt A Block.” Volunteers’ work side by side with neighbors to spruce up landscaping, buildings, walls, and pick up debris. It’s a simple loving act, which brings pride back into, the community one block at a time.
This concept fits into the ‘Restore’ objective of the Valley Dream Center and brightens the outlook of each of its residence that see the physical evidence of the love of Jesus shown in a practical way. Can you image the joy on a child’s face when they are free to play and explore outside in a clean, safe environment? It is something worth investing in. I ask you to join us.
You are an important part of the solution. Please visit our website at www.valleydreamcenter.org, join our team, and let’s all ‘Go play outside!’
